Give thanks here

This is sort of an open thread to say whatever you're thankful for this year. I'll start, briefly:

I'm thankful for Alix, my favorite wife of all time. I'm thankful for Fred, the best dog there ever was. I'm thankful for all our family and friends -- we both hit the lottery on those.

I'm thankful for the Tosco Music Party and late-night omelets at the Landmark and cool summer mornings on the front porch.

I'm thankful for readers.

And I'm thankful for Charlotte, which used to be the place where we lived, but over the years has turned into our home.

I'm thankful for about six million other things too, but the rest of this space is for y'all. Jump in and fill it up. And have a great Thanksgiving.

I am thankful for having healthy and safe friends and family, the look in the eyes of my dog jack, the oprah show, fall leaves, hot coffee at On The run, a child's laughter, the smell of baking bread , being able to reach to people all over the world with email, and the taste of a delicious italian meal.

I am thankful for America and all of Planet Earth. I am thankful for food and family and all the material things that make our lives better or easier. I am thankful for my life.

Within the last few days I told my son that he has to leave our home until he could get along with us and respect our rules. I have not seen him since. But what I am thankful for is that he still has a home to come back to should he choose to do so. I am also thankful for the hope or maybe I should say faith that he has been raised to be a good person and that he knows how to stay true to his moral compass and to his dreams of having his own business. Even if his plans do not include us, I would still be thankful if he perseveres with these ideals that we nurtured in him and the dreams that he himself is nurturing...... Godspeed Jeff

I am thankful for Charlotte and all its natives and newcomers, the transit tax re-affirmed, the school bonds passing, Charlotte's beautiful treescape and my own giant oaks I banded last weekend, my house, my new job, old friends and colleagues, new friends and colleagues, my Charlotte roots and my life across the country for the last 20 years, a sense of humor, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (my alma mater,) all of North Carolina's excellent colleges and universities, North Carolina's increasing success and importance and lots more. I feel very lucky. :)

I am thankful for the miracle I witnessed last Saturday when the community came together to search for Kyle Fleischman. While most did not know Kyle or his family, it was truly a reaffirmation of the good in this place we call home. It showed the best of us.

Uhm, hard to believe someone would post that they are thankful for putting a family member out on the streets.

Open minded loving parents, a sister I can talk to about anything in the world, a boyfriend who loves me just the way I am, the love gratitude and loyalty from my dog, knowing that I have friends that I can call at 4 a.m. if I need them, roommates, learning something new everyday, doing something that scares me every day, choosing Charlotte as my new home.

Today, early in the morning, I am thankful that my small world is full of peace, that I am not cooking a turkey, that I have a seat reserved at the table of a friends for turkey dinner today, but most of all, I am thankful for all the new friends and great experiences from living here in Charlotte these past two years.
